About us
What is Fairer World Lindfield?
Fairer World Lindfield (FWL) is a climate and environmental action community group, established in 2019. We aim to raise awareness and encourage individual and collective action to combat the climate and ecological crisis. By promoting options for more sustainable choices and taking small steps, our hope is to play our part in mitigating and adapting to climate and biodiversity change with a local voice and a vision for a fairer world for future generations
At the heart of FWL is justice and fairness for people and planet, raising awareness of the social and environmental impact of climate change.
How does FWL go about this?
Our actions include creating and hosting events to educate and inspire people to reduce their impact on the planet. We want to help people reduce their carbon footprint and become more aware of what is happening in and around Lindfield, the wider community and our planet.
We are a not-for-profit, passionate group of local residents who want to spread knowledge and help people take action individually and come together collectively to fight the climate crisis we all find ourselves in.
As well as events, we have met with our local MP, Councillors from Lindfield Parish Council and spoken at Mid Sussex District Council meetings to lobby for policy change. Fairer World Lindfield (FWL) is a member of the South East Climate Alliance (SECA) where we join our voices with other groups in the region to lobby for policy change and share ideas for climate action.
Part of FWL’s original formation was in achieving accreditation from the Fairtrade Foundation for Lindfield to become a Fairtrade Village in April 2018. Since then we have given many talks on Fairtrade to schools, churches and community groups.
We partner with local environmental groups to help amplify our collective message as well as collaborate on events and initiatives taking place locally.
We publish a periodic newsletter where we send out inspiring information. If you would like to sign up to our mailing list, please send an email to fairerworldlindfield@gmail.com
